As of 27 April 2026, the ‘legal base’ column will be made visible for the UK tariff data on the Online Trade Tariff. This will enable traders to access the legislation, public notice, or other legal basis for the associated measure.
Additionally, this change will help clarify certain changes that watch list(s) users will receive notifications on. Work is underway to get the legislative references up to date in the UK Tariff Dataset but, in the meantime please note that some references may appear to be missing or incorrect. These are due to be amended with the correct references as soon as possible.
Should further clarification be required, or if you wish to report examples of missing or incorrect legislative references, please contact the HMRC Tariff Management team by emailing tariffmanagement@hmrc.gov.uk.This will allow us to coordinate with colleagues in the Department for Business and Trade to ensure timely updates.
