As advised in a previous stop press, a calculation issue was identified within our quota management system that affected all capped individual country quota accounts with an associated residual account. The issue only occurs when the individual country account is near exhaustion and partial allocations are required. Due to this issue, two accounts (South Korea and Vietnam) were suspended pending further investigation:
- 058410
- 058411
A fix will be applied to our IT system imminently to ensure this issue does not arise again for future quota claims. Once this fix is in place, we will ensure that any quota claims made to the suspended accounts on 1st July can complete the allocation cycle and receive their partially allocated quota amount. We expect this remedial work to be completed around the beginning of August – exact date to be confirmed.
We appreciate that this news may be frustrating, but please know that we are doing everything we possibly can to get this issue resolved as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we have manually calculated the percentage of allocation you can expect to receive on your quota claim. Please note, it is not 100% accurate and can be subject to change based on the rounding the quota system completes automatically.
- 058410: 73%
- 058411: 35%
Hopefully this provides you with more certainty on the quantity which would be covered under the in-quota rate. If you have any specific queries, please email tariffmanagement@hmrc.gov.uk with your MRN.
Please note the Online Trade Tariff is still showing these accounts as ‘suspended’ rather than ‘exhausted’. However, they will move to show as ‘exhausted’ once this current issue is resolved.
